From the very beginning, Eric and Nakia’s Mt. Washington Mill Wedding was destined to be a celebration of elegance, culture, and love. Taking place at the beautiful Mt. Washington Mill Dye House in Baltimore, their day honored their unique bond with thoughtful details, stylish design, and a whole lot of Black Joy. It was more than a wedding. It was a moment, one that was featured in the pages of The Knot Magazine’s 2022 Winter Edition.
A Love Story Rooted in Baltimore

Eric and Nakia’s journey began in fall 2012 at Loafers, a local sports bar where sparks quietly flew. Their first date may have been simple with just dinner. It planted the seed for what would blossom into a powerful and lasting partnership. Years later, Eric proposed at a cookout with friends and family members present, making it an unforgettable public declaration of love.
Their Mt. Washington Mill Wedding reflected that same boldness and connection, celebrating their journey with guests. They were surrounded by rose gold and grey accents that set the tone for a night of refinement and joy.

Getting Ready at the Royal Sonesta
Both bride and groom got ready at the elegant Royal Sonesta in downtown Baltimore. Surrounded by her bridesmaids. Nakia prepared for her big day with glam by Kane Beauty. Eric, alongside his groomsmen suited up in style with tuxedos by Miguel Wilson Collection.

A Ceremony Full of Meaning at Mt. Washington Mill Dye House
The ceremony took place at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House, a venue Nakia loved for its rustic charm and blank canvas. She brought her elegant vision to life with the help of her planner, Bird of Paradise Events, and decor by Devine Designs by Diesha. With floral artistry by Bella Fiori Events, live music by Heru the Violinist , and a moving ceremony officiated by Rodney Dashiell, every moment felt intentional.

Portraits and First Look
Before the ceremony, Eric and Nakia shared a first look at the Royal Sonesta—a quiet, emotional moment captured forever in photos. Formal portraits took place there as well, featuring their daughters, wedding party, and immediate families. Their love story had already been beautifully told during their National Arboretum Engagement Session and the wedding day continued that visual narrative.

The Reception: A Night of Elegance
The reception also took place at the Mt. Washington Mill Dye House. With catering by Copper Kitchen MD. The space was transformed into a warm and luxurious setting. DJ Tanz kept the energy high, while guests enjoyed the sweetness of a custom cake from Sugar Bakers Cakes. Eric and Nakia shared their first dance to “If This World Was Mine,” a perfect anthem for a love like theirs.

Looking Toward Forever
As they danced, laughed, and celebrated with loved ones, Eric and Nakia looked forward to their future together. Their journey as a married couple would begin with a honeymoon in St. Lucia. Their Mt. Washington Mill Wedding was a testament to the beauty of Black love and the power of community.
